ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, CHITTAMPATTI, MADURAI
The Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, known also as the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Italian: Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice; abbreviated FMA) are a female religious institute founded in 1872 by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello.
We are the largest Congregation of women religious with over 12,000 Sisters serving in 97 countries. The Salesian Sisters are dedicated to reaching the youth for Christ.
In 1922, the first batch of six Salesian sisters landed in the Indian soil and planted the charism at Tanjore in Tamil Nadu. Now we have over 2000 sisters in India working in 7 provinces. We work with the Children and youth in schools and colleges (rural and urban), marginalized children and youth in Street Children’s home, drop out youth in vocational education centres and marginalized women in rural and urban areas.
We have celebrated 100 years of FMA presence in India and this college “Auxilium Arts and Science College for Women, Chittampatti, Madurai” is a centenary initiative of the Province of Our Lady of Snow, Tiruchirappalli INT.
The college was solemnly opened on August 24, 2022 to mark the hundred years of FMA presence in India!
